Celebrate Public Schools
PURPOSE
Our Schools Our Democracy is a statewide campaign promoting public education as essential to democracy. Rooted in the belief that a thriving democracy depends on an educated citizenry, the group organizes Texans to stand against efforts to privatize education and dismantle public systems.
OUTREACH
The organization’s members include public school parents, educators, students, and advocates who believe in the civic mission of education. Many are also active in local school boards, community groups, or political activism aligned with pro–public school values.
Public education is the foundation of democracy.
Defending Democracy Through Public Schools
The group opposes efforts to defund, privatize, or erode Texas public education. They frame public schools as a cornerstone of democratic society and work to protect them from voucher schemes and ideological censorship.
Building a Statewide Pro–Public Ed Movement
Our Schools Our Democracy supports grassroots leaders and local coalitions across Texas, offering training, resources, and coordination to unify public school defenders statewide.
Research for Public Action
We conduct cutting-edge research and analyze data to educate and inform parents, policymakers, and the public about the threats posed by privatization schemes such as private school vouchers and unlimited charter school expansion.
